How to Web 2012

Četvrto izdanje konferencije How to Web će se održati u Bukureštu (Rumunija) 7. i 8. novembra 2012. godine. Ovo je jedna od najboljih konferencija u našem regionu koju od sveg srca preporučujemo, a organizatori ove godine planiraju da okupe 800 učesnika, desetine inostranih predavača i 32 najbolja startapa iz regiona.

 

The topics that the 2012 conference will address include innovation through technology, business and product development in domains like gaming, Software as a Service and mobile, web business development in global markets vs. local markets, particularities of web business development in Eastern Europe and financing opportunities.

The most important speakers confirmed up to this moment are Phil Libin – CEO of Evernote, company evaluated at $1b, designated one of the 5 Most Admired Companies Tech Companies in 2011 by Forbes; Bill Liao – Co-founder of XING, the biggest European social network; JP Schmetz – Board member at XING and Burda, ex CEO of Burda Digital, one of the biggest media companies in the world; Stephanie Kaiser – Product Lead at Wooga, the third biggest social games developer in the world, Europe’s no.1; David Noel – Community Manager at SoundCloud, designated the best entertainment service EMEA by TechCrunch in 2009; Alex Lapusan – Co-founder and CEO of Zitec, important Romanian outsourcing company also developing in-house products; Mark Pascarella – CEO of uberVU, world-wide renowned Romanian startup.

Due to the success of the Startup Challenge 2011 competition, last year’s final reuniting 10 teams from 7 CEE countries, How to Web 2012 extends the exposure awarded to companies in the early stage of development through the Startup Spotlight program. This includes free display space for the best 32 teams from the region, which will be selected by a group of international specialists, as well as pitching sessions, private mentoring sessions with renowned international specialists and private meetings with accelerator representatives.

During Startup Spotlight, 12 of the most important accelerators in the world will also be pitching their programs. Some of the representatives confirmed up to this moment are Boris Wertz – founder of the Canadian accelerator GrowLab, Jon Bradford – founder of British accelerators  Springboard and Ignite100, David Bizer – Talent Geek at the German accelerator HackFwd and Vlad Stan – founder of Romanian Geekcelerator.

ENTRY CRITERIA

Web startups that wish to take part in the competition have to comply to just a few rules:

  • They need to have less than 2 years of activity
  • They can come from anywhere in Central and Eastern Europe but their startups need to target a global or international market
  • They must have a concrete product to show on stage and give users for testing at the conference
  • They mustn’t have raised more than €100k funding until the present moment

JUDGING CRITERIA

Expert judges will evaluate the applicant startups based on the following criteria:

  • Target audience identification (include market size also)
  • Problem identification and customer development
  • Solution and technology
  • Team structure & background
  • Proposed business model
  • Overall feasibility and international impact
